Swedish compared vocabulary #2

Hej!!

Today I had some fun learning Swedish and was amazed at how similar the Germanic languages can be.

I've made a list of words I've learned today as follows:

Ligga - Liegen(DE) → Be located
Knacka- Knock(EN)
Dörr - Door (EN)
Lyssna - Listen(EN)
Fönster - Fenster(DE) →Window
Gå - Gehen(DE)→Go
Lyfta - Lift(EN)
Säga - Sagen(DE)→Say
Öppna - Öffnen(DE)→Open

The list will continue as my studies progress.

Tack bra och Heydå!

good post... I love the Germanic languages. One day, when I become fluent in German I would like to learn anything from Swedish to Danish to Icelandic... anyway, I'm not nearly as advanced as you are. Keep it up! I love languages too!

Hello there!!
Sorry to ask but your name declares you're a christian, which will make you my brother in faith. Anyway, I'm glad you've been probably been reading my blog and want to keep on writing about what the Lord has been teaching me. About learning German, I recommend you a podcast called "Jesustreff Stuttgart" and also "Deutsche im Alltag", which have helped me not only give a boost in my German but also keep it fluent.

God bless!!!
